Amazing day so far! I went to a riveting discussion between author of “Orange is The New Black” Piper Kerman and TV critic for the New Yorker, Emily Nussbaum, who asked her about life in prison, her thoughts on reform and also her feelings on the massive success of the TV series. I was honoured to have Piper sign a copy of my book and I also returned the favour by signing a copy of my second novel “Naked As The Day” for her!
I passed through the 2014 Jamaica Jerk Fest and hung out with headliners Maxi Priest and Beniton the Menace. I also got to hang with actor Paul Campbell of “Third World Cop” fame! Shot some pics and had a good time!
I’m quite interested in street fashion photography, and Manhattan is the perfect place to find great subjects. This “fashionable fridays” post is a collection of what i’ve been snapping over the last few days. What’s interesting to me is how patterns emerge as you shoot, and sometimes, priceless moments are captured when someone looks up and you catch them in perfect focus.
I’m on a heavy networking track while i’m here in New York, and I had a good time passing through the monthly Lost& Found event held at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. This month’s theme was “souvenirs and mementos” and people shared a variety of stories such as crashing a wedding of John Gotti’s family member, talking about a grandmother who was a witch and the hilarity of a grandfather’s Hebrew last name that has over 72 misspelled versions printed on actual letters. These stories were told by Rachel Kramer bussel (the big book of orgasms), Alan Feuer (nyt), Sarah Maslin Nir (nyt), Nelson Lugo and Nathaniel Bates. hosted by Daniel Guzman.
