Simon Pegg’s new movie “Hector & the search for Happiness”   Leave a comment

I’m tempted to write a review of this movie, simply because as a traveller there were situations in the film I could relate to. i’ll try and word a comprehensive review over the next few days (i am presently exhausted) but it was a pleasure to both watch the film and see Simon Pegg and director Peter Chelsom in person. With friendly and well managed interviewing by Peter Travers, I had the pleasure of getting direct information about insights into the film with the main players on hand. This is what I like about NYC, there is a lot of access to things and people pretty often, and it helps to keep me focused on bigger and brighter things. I took a few pictures. cheers.

Fashionable Fridays Part 2   Leave a comment

It has been an interesting experience trying to document street fashion while trying to stay balanced in the whirlwind energy of New York. I try to shoot every day if possible, despite being fatigued a lot with my other networking efforts. cheers

Piper Kerman talks with Emily Nussbaum at Bryant Park NYC   Leave a comment

Amazing day so far! I went to a riveting discussion between author of “Orange is The New Black” Piper Kerman and  TV critic for the New Yorker, Emily Nussbaum, who asked her about life in prison, her thoughts on reform and also her feelings on the massive success of the TV series. I was honoured to have Piper sign a copy of my book and I also returned the favour by signing a copy of my second novel “Naked As The Day” for her!

I passed through the 2014 Jamaica Jerk Fest and hung out with headliners Maxi Priest and Beniton the Menace. I also got to hang with actor Paul Campbell of “Third World Cop” fame! Shot some pics and had a good time!

Birdimus Presents: Fashionable Fridays   Leave a comment

I’m quite interested in street fashion photography, and Manhattan is the perfect place to find great subjects. This “fashionable fridays” post is a collection of what i’ve been snapping over the last few days. What’s interesting to me is how patterns emerge as you shoot, and sometimes, priceless moments are captured when someone looks up and you catch them in perfect focus.

Lost & Found monthly reading at Le Poisson Rouge   1 comment

I’m on a heavy networking track while i’m here in New York, and I had a good time passing through the monthly Lost& Found event held at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. This month’s theme was “souvenirs and mementos” and people shared a variety of stories such as crashing a wedding of John Gotti’s family member, talking about a grandmother who was a witch and the hilarity of a grandfather’s Hebrew last name that has over 72 misspelled versions printed on actual letters. These stories were told by Rachel Kramer bussel (the big book of orgasms), Alan Feuer (nyt), Sarah Maslin Nir (nyt), Nelson Lugo and Nathaniel Bates. hosted by Daniel Guzman.

Good Business Film Shoot   Leave a comment

Got to work today on the set of “Good Business” a film produced by a few up and comers here in NYC, including Ramfis Myrthil and his company Beast of the East Productions along with Hayden 5 productions. The film was also pushed by the Co-Founder of a film non profit, Mythic Bridge whose organization helped this film come into reality. On set were talents like Oscar winner Mercedes Ruehl and Christian Campbell!
